I’ve recently been reorganizing + sorting through my stash and have stumbled upon a few refashions from the past that definitely needed an update or, in some cases, a complete redesign!
Let’s revisit and tweak this vintage dress to cropped jacket refashion from 2014:
Grab a sleeveless house dress + a small vintage table cloth with enough fabric to cover both of your arms.
Chop the house dress to your desired jacket length (+ a bit extra for seam allowance).
Cut the table cloth in half.
Chop each tablecloth piece to your ideal sleeve length & width + a bit extra for seam allowance.
Fold each one together with right sides facing and stitch them into tubes.
Hem the bottom of the chopped dress.
Pop the sleeves into the armholes with right sides facing and stitch together.
For extra fanciness I added a few different types of vintage lace to the shoulders, collar and hems.
An absolutely fantastic and oh-so-comfy result!
And awesome from the back too!
