Transform that frumpy floral top and make it extra unique with a bit of vintage from your stash!
Check out how easy it is to whip up your own DIY Doily Peplum Top below:
I love the pattern on the top I scored in my poshmark haul but the detail at the side is just plain weird.
Grab a big round doily or table cloth from your stash + your t-shirt.
Fold your round doily (or tablecloth) evenly in half.
Lay the folded doily on top of the shirt to make sure it’s wide enough to cover the bottom.
Chop off the bottom of the shirt. (I cut straight across above that strange detail.)
Place the chopped edge of the shirt above the folded edge of the doily and mark the basic area to chop out.
Using your marks as a guide, cut out the center of the doily.
Pop the shirt into the center of the doily with raw edges lined up and pin together.
Sew together with a zig zag (this allows the seams to have a bit stretch).
Flip your new peplum top right side out and enjoy!
I wasn’t thrilled with my seam so I snagged the perfectly matching leftover belt from this vintage dress refashion.
Then stitched it over the outside seam.
There was a wee bit left so I went ahead and created a little bow detail then hand stitched it over the side seam.
Awesome with my DIY faux flower embellished sunglasses from 2013!
