Booooo! It’s ripped and the fit is less than stellar!
Yay! I have a crazy quick and easy fix that will transform that damaged preloved garment into a wardrobe fave!
Discover how to mend & refashion torn clothing in a flash with my simple tutorial!
I scored that adorable 80’s playsuit for free from my local thrift shop when I pointed out the various rips, tears and damaged areas to the staff!
Once I got it home I found a total of 5 rips and very worn out, super droopy cold shoulder sleeves.
As none of the holes were along the seams and all of them were missing bits of fabric I decided to raid my stash for patches to cover them instead of attempting to pull the fabric together and stitch the rips closed.
First, I carefully ironed all of the patches over the holes.
Make sure to cover the patches with a bit of cotton fabric to protect the design from the heat of the iron.
Once all of the patches were attached with the iron I went ahead and stitched them on for extra strength and to prevent them from coming unstuck during the wash cycle.
Those cold shoulder sleeves had definitely seen better days so I pinned the edges together.
The sleeves fit perfectly under the shoulder strap seams!
Then, I simply stitched them together to create groovy new short sleeves!
Fantastically easy improvements that transformed this playsuit from trash to wardrobe treasure!
