I shared my original DIY dry shampoo how-to back in 2014 and am pleased to report that the spice jar sized amount I made lasted until very recently – wowza!
I’ve tweaked that initial recipe a bit and can confidently announce that my new version is even better than the original!
You may just have everything needed to Freshen Up with Amazing Scented DIY Dry Shampoo in your kitchen right now so let’s get making!
You’ll need: 1/4 cup of cornstarch (or arrowroot powder), 1 tablespoon of baking soda and a few drops of your fave essential oil for a yummy, hair-freshening scent
Throw all of the ingredients into a bowl and mix well.
Funnel the dry shampoo mixture into a clean spice jar.
Pop the lid on.
How to use: shake a bit of your DIY dry shampoo into your hand.
Dab some onto your fingertips.
(preferably in your PJ’s, before you get dressed to avoid powdering your groovy outfit of the day!)
Apply to the roots of your hair.
Work through your hair with your hands or brush and you’re ready to get dressed and meet the day with fresh-looking & smelling) locks!
*for brunettes simply add unsweetened cocoa powder to the mix to reach your desired shade & for redheads add cinnamon – bonus: your hair will smell like Christmas!
My hair bio: I have crazy thick long hair that grows at an alarming rate & needs its greying roots blonded every 2 weeks, my hair is washed/conditioned once every 5 – 7days, has a monthly DIY trim & gets a weekly treatment condition (if I have the time!)
