It’s Karneval time in Germany and that means my quirky kiddo got to request yet another funky DIY costume. My lovely little lassie has become obsessed with vampires (with zombies coming in at a close second) and thus I created a fun little mini monster of the night ensemble for her Karneval celebrations:
Here’s how I whipped up the refashioned baby vampire costume:
I grabbed a pair of black pants + a black top from her closet and some groovy red lace trim from my stash.
Embellished the top with the lace trim.
Snagged the bright red skirt lining leftover from this project + a large scrap of black fabric.
Chopped that lining fabric in half.
Pinned it to the black fabric with right sides facing and chopped it to size.
Stitched the pieces together leaving a small opening for turning right side out.
Flipped it right side out, tucked in the raw edges and top stitched all around the outside edge.
Added a big button & loop closure and the fancy schmancy vampire cape was complete!
I vant to drink some blood, blah blah blah!
…and just where does she get her magnificent taste in costumes from?
her vampire-loving mommy, of course!

Awesome! What fun!
My awesome little gal was definitely a unique change in the sea of silly princess and fairy costumes – I love having a kiddo that doesn’t follow the crowd! 😀
