Hooray you’ve found a stellar vintage blouse at the thrift shop!
Boooo, it has those awful yellow stains on the armpits!
Discover how to remove yellow underarm stains from shirts with a couple of items from your kitchen and keep those groovy vintage blouses in your wardrobe!
The yellow underarm stains on this thrifted 80’s polyester blouse were quite large and had spread out into fairly even circular shapes.
My yellow stain removing ingredients are simple white vinegar and baking soda.
Mix the vinegar and baking soda into a paste, smear it all over the stain, ball up the shirt and then leave it to work overnight.
Then launder the blouse as usual and (hopefully) nearly all of the stain will have vanished from the inside of the shirt!
And, fingers crossed, it will have completely disappeared from the outside of the blouse too!
This technique has worked for me on polyester, cotton, acrylic, viscose and even wool blend fabrics however its effectiveness is not only dependant on the kind of fabric but also the age and type of stains lurking in the material.
