Refashionista Rants | BODY IMAGE

Today’s Refashionista Rant is going to be a big one.

I’m going to talk about something so many of us carry quietly and shamefully: body image, where it starts, how it’s twisted, and why it’s so hard to shake, even when we know better.

This isn’t going to be a fluffy “love yourself” chat. It’s the messy, honest version.

What I’ll be ranting about:

  • Growing up in a house where food was weaponized
Things like “you have to finish everything on your plate” taken to extremes.
I’ll be sharing memories like the time I had to keep eating the same vanilla pudding for every single meal for three days until it was gone.

  • How my 90s modelling years fed my eating disorder
The measurements, the comments, the “advice”, the unspoken rules about what a body “should” look like, and how those expectations still echo today.

  • The media’s nonstop assault on women’s bodies
All the rules we’re bombarded with: be smaller, smoother, tighter, younger.
How we can feel amazing in an outfit… then catch our reflection in a window and instantly start tearing ourselves apart.

  • Living in a body that never seems “good enough”
How those early messages don’t just disappear with age, they evolve into something so much worse.
Why so many of us are still negotiating with mirrors, clothing sizes, and that voice in our heads.

  • How we can start to untangle it
No magic fix, no toxic positivity allowed, just honest talk about unlearning, healing, and slowly making peace with the body we live in every day.

If any of this sounds familiar, you are absolutely not alone, and this live is for you.
