I filmed this video early this morning while walking to the bus stop. It was still dark out, and I had to take the long route because the shortcut meant going through a park and side streets that felt too dangerous to walk alone, simply because I exist in feminine energy.
It doesn’t matter how old or young we are, how strong or careful we try to be. Safety isn’t guaranteed for any of us. Not on a dark street. Not at a bus stop. Not even in broad daylight sometimes. And the weight of that reality is something we carry every single day.
But here’s the part we don’t talk about enough, when danger happens, it’s us who step in. It’s women who intervene, shield, shout, and save. Time and again, video after video, it’s women protecting women while too many men stand frozen on the sidelines.
This isn’t about hate. It’s about truth. We are our own protectors. And until the world changes, we have to keep showing up for each other because our safety depends on it.
It’s easy to feel powerless when you’re reminded of how vulnerable we are just by existing. But we are not powerless. Every single time we reach out, look out, and stand up for one another, we shift the story. Every time we speak these truths out loud, we refuse to let them be normalized.
This video isn’t polished or planned. It’s just me, walking and talking while the world is still waking up. But maybe that’s what makes it matter more because it’s real, and I know I’m not the only one who feels this way.
