What do you get when you combine an uninspired old tee with a bit of bleach and some DIY courage? A totally transformed top that looks anything but basic. For Day 3 of my 30 Days of Refashions, I’m showing you how to safely bleach-pattern a plain t-shirt with no special equipment and no shopping required.
This thrifty project uses what you already have under your sink (literally) and includes a little full-disclosure moment too, because not every refashion is smooth sailing. But the final result? ????
Materials You’ll Need:
-
A dark t-shirt
-
Household bleach
-
A spray bottle
-
Plastic bag & hanger (to prevent leakage)
-
Optional: gloves & masking tools
Why This Works:
Bleach is a surprisingly powerful upcycling tool when used with care. It strips dye to reveal bold new patterns and gives plain pieces a whole new life. Perfect for breathing life into a garment you’d otherwise ignore.
