It’s a snap to transform a boxy men’s button down shirt into a fab top for yourself!
Discover how to create your own ruffled plaid shirt refashion with my quick tutorial below:
Pop the shirt on and mark your desired length + a few centimetres extra for seam allowance.
Chop the shirt at your mark.
Hem the raw edge.
Chop the sleeves and hem.
Cut the bottom part of the shirt into 2 equal pieces.
Place one on top of the other, even them up if needed and stitch the ends together to create a long piece of fabric.
Fold the length of fabric in half with right sides facing and stitch together to form a long tube.
Flip the tube ride side out and press flat with your iron if needed.
Gather and pin the the length of fabric along the bottom hem of the shirt.
Stitch in place.
Remove the cuffs from the chopped sleeves,
Remove the button then gather and pin the sleeve cuffs to the shoulders of the shirt and stitch in place, make sure the button hole is facing outward towards the sleeve seam.
Restitch the buttons in place and attach the ruffled cuff ends.
Grab the rest of the scraps and stitch them all together to create a quirky little necktie.
