Even though my to-be-refashioned vintage dress collection is already (more than) a bit too full I couldn’t resist getting this super soft 1970’s beauty:
I loved the fabric, colour and details of this faux denim frock but the length and fit were just not me.

I chopped the dress to my desired length + a few centimeters of seam allowance.
Gave the raw edge a nice clean hem.
Grabbed the chopped bottom piece of fabric and carefully unpicked the original hem.
Folded the fabric in half with right sides facing and stitch the long sides together leaving the ends open.
Flipped the fabric tube right side out, centered the seam in the middle of the back side, folded in the raw ends and pressed the whole thing flat with my trusty iron.
Then top stitched all the way around to create a crisp edge.
I thought my belt was a bit too plain so I grabbed some red embroidery thread and added a blanket stitch to the ends to match the dress details.
A fantastic (and oh-so-easy) update for a frumpy vintage frock!
