Who loves sequins and shine but isn’t so impressed with the prices of those groovy garments of bling?
Take a peek at how simple it is to create your own unique outfit for pennies from preloved items with my DIY Disco Jumpsuit Refashion Tutorial:
I thrifted that preloved silver jumpsuit for pennies online and it arrived a few sizes larger than described so ended up in my stash.
I grabbed that damaged yet awesome vintage bandeau top at a swap and easily fixed it up with a bit of hand stitching.
I removed the drawstring belt + that silly peplum from the jumpsuit.
Then carefully chopped off the top of the jumpsuit a few centimetres above the elastic waistband.
Pinned the mended sequin bandeau top to the area just above the elastic waistband and sewed them together with a zigzag stitch.
A zigzag stitch allows the bit of extra stretch needed to pull the jumpsuit on and off.
To create the straps:
1. I popped the jumpsuit on and measured my ideal strap length. 2. Chopped 2 wide strips off of the remaining top of the jumpsuit. 3. Folded them in half right with sides facing. 4. Stitched the straps into tubes.
5. Flipped the tubes right side out, arranged the seams on the back of straps & stitched down the centre of the front to hold it all in place. 6. Chopped the straps to my ideal size. 7. Safety pinned them both in place & tried the jumpsuit on to ensure the correct fit. 8. Once happy with the strap placement I stitched them on.
Once my fantastic jumpsuit was complete I cut the straps off of the remaining top bit & knotted them to create two groovy bracelets!
I also loosely wrapped & knotted the original drawstring belt around my neck for an instant coordinating wrap necklace too!
I styled my gorgeous outfit with DIY, preloved and vintage accessories!
The perfect, just my style, super comfy disco jumpsuit of my dreams!
Created for pennies + a load of refashionista imagination!
