Busting Myths About Thrifting

I constantly hear so many silly and just plain illogical reasons from anti-thrifters for NOT shopping secondhand I wondered if any of my fellow preloved style divas have had the same experience so I went ahead and made it the topic of the next thrifty query to my Gone Thrifting group:

Let’s get started Busting Myths About Thrifting with my Gone Thrifting group + meet my amusing cast of thrifty video characters and discover why thrifting and reusing should be an important part of everyone’s life:

Jean: That it takes too much time when it takes less time and energy than shopping at the mall.

Megan: Thrift stores only have sh*t nobody wants when the exact opposite is true.

Judy: That stores are smelly and dirty – thrift shops are the same as any other store, sometimes they’re spotless and sometimes they’re not, it all depends on the management.

Katie: That thrifting is just for dirty hipsters and poor people. ANYONE can shop secondhand and find treasures!

Corky: That stores are obligated to take everything people bring (they are not), and those same people get angry and defensive and complain that thrift stores are getting too choosy.

Gail: Myth: you never find anything good because it’s all someone’s trash. Truth: you can find everything from new designer goods to genuine antiques if you’re willing to put in the time to look.

Dawn: That you shouldn’t buy something because it’s too small/big/short/long. All the more opportunity to put your creativity to work!
