I thrifted a gorgeous preloved floral bomber jacket for only $1 that was nearly perfect in every way – it even has 4 pockets! The only problem with this fab thrift score? Crazy short sleeves. Not long enough to reach my wrists and not short enough to be comfortably 3/4.
Luckily I had an awesome refashionista fix just waiting in my stash:
Grab my how to easily make jacket sleeves longer tutorial and make those less than stellar fitting arms comfy + grab my sweatshirt to bubble skirt DIY too!
Thankfully I’d held on to the top part of the glittery velvet sweatshirt I transformed into a funky bubble skirt in 2016!
Always hang on to those refashionista leftovers – you’ll use them in future projects for sure!
Side note: I asked which cuff version I should choose on my social media and instagram was all for the top pattern mix while facebook went with the more traditional bottom look.
I popped the jacket on and measured the missing length I needed.
I cut the sweatshirt sleeve to size + a few centimetres for seam allowance.
I easily shrunk the sleeves to match the width of the jacket cuffs with 2 straight seams down the sides.
Then popped the new cuffs over the sleeve ends with right sides facing.
Stitched them together.
Flipped them right side out and had fabulously pattern mixed sleeves with the perfect length!
So loving my groovy new, perfectly fitting sleeves!
Now what shall I refashion next?
