I’m very much a hands-free-bag kinda gal and much prefer to tote my gear safely hung around my my body than have to fuss about with slipping shoulder straps or handles that must be carried.
Unfortunately the preloved bags I love rarely, if ever, have long enough straps. Fortunately I’ve come up with a quick and easy solution:
Grab my Very Easy DIY Bag Straps tutorial below and step out in hands-free style!
Grab that fab yet strapless preloved bag + a coordinating single strap or a thin belt (easily found at the thriftshop, garage sales & possibly even your own stash) as well as a bit of chain & needle and thread.
Create 2 equal pieces of chain (the length is entirely up to you).
Securely handstitch a chain to the inside of each side of the bag.
Attach your strap to the chain – if your strap doesn’t have clips simply stitch it to the chain.
Yay! A fab new strap for my fancy vintage bag!
The strap is sturdy and can even be removed if I want to use the bag as a clutch!
