Upcycled DIY Refashioned Holiday Dress

The best part about refashioning (aside from the numerous eco-benefits) is creating completely unique looks that showcase individual style. As my kiddo is now old enough to choose her own upcycling ingredients + request very specific details I have now become the personal seamstress to her design ideas:

Take a peek at how I put together my kiddo’s upcycled DIY refashioned holiday dress from her instructions and a few scrappy bits from my stash!

We raided her closet and found a red dress that had seen better days then sifted through my stash for some festive refashionista inspiration.

She loved the necktie and wanted it to be the main feature of the dress so I cut it to size and stitched it down the centre and around the collar.

Big pockets are always a necessary addition to her refashionista-wear but this time they needed to be in contrasting holiday fabrics. (+ a bit of festive ribbon added to the hem)

The stain on the back of the dress was taken care of with some knit doily camouflage!

Another small stain was concealed with the remaining head of an ornament that had lost a battle with the dog.

The “luxury buttons” she found in one of my button jars had to be stitched to the dress cuffs for extra “fanciness”.

Our fave detail are the holly jingle bells created from the scraps leftover from my holiday jumpsuit tute!
