My thrifty little DIY guest room

Have a look at how I transformed the awkwardly shaped, incredibly small extra-room-beside-the-stairs into My thrifty little DIY guest room:

This cramped, L-shaped space was in desperate need of a paint job and new flooring

Take the lickety split tour below and check out the rest of the vintage and handmade decor!

Dark bamboo blinds and heavy drapes are must because…

the room is basically in the parking lot and the neighbouring apartment building has a rather clear view into the windows!

Furnishing and decorating this oddly shaped little room was definitely a challenge, luckily the gorgeous 1920’s bedroom set I thrifted for peanuts managed to (almost) fit – the double bed just couldn’t be squeezed in anywhere so I repurposed it into my munchkin’s groovy new upcycled playhouse!

One of the bedside tables nestled nicely beside the wardrobe and is the perfect stand for a few scented candles and my embroidered lamp. (+ it makes a fabulous hideaway storage for my tools)

There was just enough wall space beside the window for a bit of upcycled vintage wrapping paper “art” and some thrifted ceramic decor.

The other bedside table snuggled in comfortably under the window ledges beside the heater and houses more of my tool collection.

The biggest challenge of this awkward space was trying to find something large enough for guests to sleep on but small enough to fit in the narrowest part of the room.

Of course it was once again the Ikea As-Is section to the rescue with a mini sofabed find – made cozy with my upcycled sassy sofa sitter, a DIY doily owl and a couple of thrifted throw pillows.

and a few artistic flea market finds completed the petite but sweet room!

Now I just need some friends to fly over and visit! Please!

Take the tour of the rest of my thrifted, vintage, DIY home right here.
