Beautiful Sheri! Did you dye the dress in your frontload washer? Love your videos they’re so much fun!

    1. Yep…everything I dye gets a bath in the washing machine…Here in Germany Simplicol dye (http://www.simplicol.de/) makes products specifically for use in the washer – it makes life soooo much easier as when the dye load is done I simply chuck a load of darks on top of the dyed garments and wash everything together, any dye bleed is not at all noticable on the dark load & the freshly coloured items get a second super rinse 😉

Sheri – once you’ve dyed something, does the dye stay put or do you need to be careful about washing it after that? Thanks!

    1. Hey Meg, usually after a wash or 2 the freshly dyed item will stop “shedding” bits of colour & adding the salt really does seem to help stop the colour from fading…just to be safe I always wash my dyed gear with a laundry load that’s a bit darker 😉

  3. I’ve never dyed anything before, it seems quite daunting but i’m tempted to give it a go now.
The dress looks so much better after the dye, it really breathes new life into it!

    1. Yup…a bath in dye can improve even the most mundane items… You’ve definitely gotta give it a try! 😀

  4. Much better! I think I’ve only ever dyed something once and the colour didn’t turn out even but I’ve been itching to give it another go. I’ve got the perfect candidate in an eyelet blouse that WAS white. I accidentally threw it into the was with darks and it ended up light peach and I hate it now. Based on your experience, should I get a product that removes colour bleed or should I just try and dye it a total different colour?

    1. As long as the blouse is (mostly) cotton I’d simply dye it a dark(er) colour than what it is now – that’s actually one of my laundry colour bleeding mishap fixing tricks 😀

*I recently dyed a vintage eyelet blouse myself from stained-off-white to a lovely lavender 😉
