A very easy vintage silk dress refashion

Take a peek at how I took this frock from frump to fantastic in minutes with a very easy vintage silk dress refashion:

I snagged that lovely yet dowdy silk frock from my stash.

Check out those groovy ballerinas!

I chopped it to my desired length.

Took out those deflated shoulder pads.

Carefully removed the trim from the chopped bottom.

Stitched it back on to the bottom of my shortened dress and hemmed up the inner slip lining.

And my loose & lovely silk dress was ready for a mommy’s day feast (& just perfect with my munchkin painted shoes!).

    1. Cheers Renata…cool vintage prints are my absolute fave! 😀

  2. Cool! I like how you reattached the trim along the bottom.

    1. Thanks Vee, reattaching the bottom trim meant I didn’t have to try to evenly hem the fussy, slippery silk fabric…a talent I have yet master 😉

That’s a gorgeous print with lovely trim, you did a great job.

    1. Cheers! …and the fact that it can be done in under half an hour means dowdy dress transformations can happen in any bits of available free time! 😉

  4. Ooh great job! It looks heaps better and is a really flattering length…. love those ballerinas too!

    1. Thanks very much…I love it when a simple refashion has such a fab result! 😀 *I’ve found that sack-like dresses always look better shorter! 😉
