Sort through your closets, drawers, shoes and accessories, have your friends do the same then meet up and have a fab evening swapping your unwanted gear for fab new-to-you wardrobe faves! There are loads of virtual meeting apps and sites to choose from so you can share your items from the comfort of your own home and post your swaps to each other – this also means you can swap with friends near & far, no matter where you are in the world!
Check your area for swaps as well. I’ve found some fab items at local swaps that were advertised online & in the freebie neighbourhood paper + it’s a groovy way to pass on your unwanted gear too!
Make do with what you already have. Skip the store, grab some style inspiration online then go through your entire wardrobe and take a fresh look at your garments & accessories – I guarantee you’ll discover a few different clothing combinations to create completely new outfits with items you already have.
A side note about shopping: Have a serious think before you make a purchase – Do you really need it? Will it be used often? Is it something you can easily pass on to someone in your circles once you decide you don’t want it anymore? (As only about 20% of items donated to thrift shops actually make it on to the shop floor for resale it’s better to give your unwanted gear to those that you know will actually make use of them)
Refashion what you already own into completely different garments. It’s amazing how a quick snip or small tweak can transform those unworn pieces at the back of your closet!
