Iam so happy for you that your results were normal, but am so sorry you experienced the other things you mentioned.. I’m in the US and your story could just as well have happened here. There is no excuse for the way you were told to come in asap without any other information to let you know all was well. I really like using the patient portals to get all my test results. There is usually a reminder that the doctor may or may not have reviewed the results yet, so proceed with caution; however, the results are there and i can choose to view them or not. I don’t have to wait.
Unfortunately the patient portals here are on a monthly membership basis and I can’t afford it, fortunately I did receive a letter from Ontario health about a month after my mammogram containing my detailed results, unfortunately I was not told I would be receiving my results from anywhere but through my family doctor or the paid for portal service – absolutely crazy and totally unacceptable from a supposed first world “wealthy” country 😡 Since returning to my home country after spending over 20 years living and working abroad I can honestly say that I am embarrassed to be Canadian and am seriously considering moving away again.
