My kiddo has definitely graduated from wanting to transform into cute characters for Halloween to wishing for a more scarifying look – I’m not quite ready to create a bloody, gross-out outfit for her yet so this year we compromised with this eerie yet adorable costume:
Check out how I whipped up The Upcycled Creepy Doll Costume from items I already had lurking around the house:
I grabbed a stained, vintage blouse from my stash, a velvet dress from her dress up box + tights too!
I popped the blouse and dress on my kiddo and marked the ideal neckline position with a pin.
Then chopped out that high, ruffled neckline + a generous bit of extra seam allowance.
I arranged the chopped blouse collar at the dress neckline with right sides facing and pinned in place.
Then stitched them together.
I grabbed a shirt with her ideal sleeve length and placed it on top of the blouse sleeves with the cuffs lined up and marked the area to cut with a pin.
Then folded the sleeves evenly together, chopped on through at my mark and stitched them onto the sleeves of the dress.
Once the collar and sleeves were stitched on I added a bit of vintage lace to the neckline for some extra creepiness.
An old haunted doll needs some cracks so I snagged a permanent marker + white tights and a pair of gloves too.
I popped a jar into the tights to prevent the ink from leaking through and drew on a few cracks.
And repeated the process with the gloves.
I snagged one of her headbands, raided my stash and created the perfect creepy doll costume topper!
Creating a spooky face was a snap with the contents of my make up drawer! Silver highlighter powder, eyeliner, eye shadows & lipstick were all it took to paint on her creepy doll features!
I can’t wait to go trick or treating with my ghoulish gal!
