DIY Day of the Dead Skeleton

My kiddo and I love learning about and experiencing cultural traditions from around the world and as she’s become quite fascinated with Dia de los Muertos, when we found a sad and lonely skeleton on the street we knew exactly what to do with it:

Transform that old Halloween decor into a lovely DIY Day of the Dead Skeleton with my trash to treasure tutorial.

We raided the kiddo’s doll clothes + my scrappy stash for some fitting garments and snagged a few permanent markers too.

We tried everything on our skeleton and made a few snips for the perfect fit.

A pretty poncho was created by simply chopping out the centre of a vintage doily!

I then created a very basic sugar skull pattern with the permanent markers.

We dressed our skeleton then grabbed our trusty glue gun and secured all of the garments and accessories.

And our pretty Calavera Catrina for Dia de los Muertos was complete and ready to adorn our door!
