I absolutely love it when a refashionista project comes out even better than planned!
I’d been coveting a fancy fluffy chair for ages and finally found the perfect ingredients:

I found this lonely vintage chair on the side of the road and just knew I could give it a groovy makeover!
Then I discovered the perfect faux fur fabric in the form of a $1 thrift shop jacket!
Quirky kisses close-up!
I chopped out the back of the jacket fabric and then put the rest away for a few future cozy projects.
I removed the seat from the chair and made sure I had enough fabric to recover it.
Unfortunately the original padding on the seat was too damaged and moldy to salvage, fortunately I had a couple of old fleece blankets + a thick towel to upcycle into a new seat pad.
I folded the blankets and towel then layered them together and placed the chair seat on top.
Using the seat as a guide, I chopped out the basic shape for the chair pad.
Then layered all of the fabric together and secured it to the seat with a staple gun.
Once the fancy new seat was complete I simply reattached it to the chair frame that I had painted in a funky metallic hue!
A gorgeous new-to-me chair!
With a fluffy, comfy seat!
2021 Update – I decided to paint the chair frame black to match the faux fur:

I love the chair. I may have to do that too. I have a couple of old fur coats. Is it hard to work with fur? Any tips?
Loved the groovy pattern on your fur coat.
And I never would have thought to use old towels and blankets as chair padding. How genius is that?!?!
Cheers my dear! The upcycled chair pad is loads more comfortable than the thin, sponge-style original 😀
The worst part is cutting the faux fur as the little bits fly about and get absolutely everywhere. After I chopped out my desired piece I vacuumed the edges of the fabric to get rid of as many of the loose fluffies as I could before attaching it to the chair seat. I also rolled up the remaining coat and put it into a bag to be stored for future projects.
