According to the interwebs flares are back (again), hooray! I love me some bell bottomed denim action!
Of course, as with any returning trend, purchasing a mass produced pair of fab flares can leave you feeling as empty as your wallet so my darlings, don’t buy when you can easily DIY and create a pair that are truly unique, sustainable, ethical and best of all free!
Here’s how it’s done:
If you dig a bit of eye catching colour with your flares snag a funky vintage table cloth from the thrift shop, follow my quick and easy DIY bohemian bell bottoms tute and you’ll be rockin’ a pair of funky bells in a flash!
A pair of full denim flares are a cinch to make! Simply use the chopped legs from a pair of old jeans for your fabric inserts and follow that bell bottom tute!
A bit of single stitch embroidery added some funky detail to my flares and also made those bulky denim seams lay flat.
Unfortunately an over enthusiastic snip with the scissors led to a hole in my flares, fortunately a quick patch and simple embroidery fixed it all up and made my new jeans even more unique!
Behind The Scenes Glamour = somehow managing to kick the wall & fracture a baby toe while attempting to sit on a chair then posing thru the pain to get the shoot done – can you spot which toe is injured?
Get the tute for that cozy upcycled cowl sweater right here.
Are you a fan of flares?

Such a cute idea! I love it with the fabric. It’s a great idea to give jeans a little extra flare!
Yup, it’s such an easy DIY that can be personalized to anyone’s taste and style 😀
Truly the best news I’ve heard about fashion in about 5 years! LOVE bell bottoms. Honestly, I never stopped wearing them when skinny jeans were in. Just can’t bring myself to put those in (sorry fans).
You and me both! Bell bottoms and wide boot cut jeans are my fave! 😀
