2 for 1 Top & Cardigan Refashion Tutorial

The cold weather has arrived bringing with it the need to do a seasonal wardrobe audit of our spring/summer gear + the fall/winter threads and discover some fabulous forgotten bits of awesome in the process!

Buried within a box of sweaters were 2 identical never worn cardigans, I quickly snatched them up & created 4 completely different items for myself!

Let’s begin with the bodacious blue number:

Snag an oversized cardigan & a long sleeved t-shirt.

Chop the sleeves off of the shirt.

Slice them off of the cardigan too!

Pop the cardigan sleeves into the shirt armholes, right sides facing & underarm seams lined up & stitch together.

Repeat the process with the cardi & shirt sleeves.

A vast improvement but still kind of plain, let’s funk it up a bit more!

Fold the cardi in half & chop out half of a heart from the back.

Open it up & center it on the front of the shirt.

Zig zag it on (chop out the fabric behind the fancy new patch if  desired)

Love your rockin’ new top!

Hmmm, but what about the cardi-with-the-heart-hole-in-the-back?

Simply fill that hole with a coordinating fabric scrap.

And stitch together!

and you have a fancy new cardi that’s as fab from the back

as it is from the front!
