As you may have gathered by the title of this post my latest creation is not exactly my cup of tea but as the pieces begged to be stitched together how could I refuse?
See what I mean? Completely & utterly wrong for my body type…but awesomely cute for the right one!
Here’s how it all came together:
With these two homely honeys…
I chopped the top right under the bust line…
then sliced off the horrid elastic waistband of the skirt & popped the two together, right sides facing & raw edges lined up…
stitched ’em together…
then flipped it right-side-out & zigzagged over the outside seam for extra strength (as always)
I wasn’t completely satisfied with the dress so I raided my vintage border stash & came up with this bit of textured loveliness…
and stitched it all the way around the empire waist…
still not satisfied, I snagged a few of my delightful little rosettes…
and hand stitched them over the buttons…
and after adding a couple of simple over-sized pockets the adorable (but just not for me) dress was finished!
