Purple on #ThriftyThursday

Purple is another one of my most loved hues!

According to the psychology of colour, purple and violet personalities are sensitive and compassionate, understanding and supportive, always thinking of others before themselves – they are the people others inevitably go to for help – being needed motivates lovers of purple but sometimes it can lead to being taken advantage of.

How fabulous are my vintage shoes and ultra violet tights? Having tiny feet means that the fab vintage shoes at the thrift shop usually fit BUT trying to find grown-up shoes that don’t fall off is a bit of nightmare and shopping in the kid’s section where the footwear fits me means a choice between pink cartoon characters or light up glitter shoes – blerg!

How should I refashion this frumpy frock?

I’ve already removed the awful shoulder pads and it will definitely be shortened but I’m not sure what to do with the sleeves – the elastic around the cuffs is completely destroyed and I’m not at all happy with the sleeve length either. Should I shorten them or just remove them entirely? All ideas are welcome!

  1. I think taking off the sleeves is a fab idea! Then maybe switch out the belt for yellow or orange to give the look some pizzazz!

The fabric in that dress is fab. I think it could be a fun Summer dress if you took the sleeves off, changed the neckline so it is more open.

    1. Yup, I love the fabric too – it’s pretty transparent & light so perfect for summer!

  3. Maria says:

For the dress sleeves, how about some trumpet or bell sleeves to make it more current?
