An Easy DIY Top for Easter

Does anyone else feel an overwhelming urge to wear purple and yellow during Easter time?

This year I decided to sort through my stash of projects that didn’t quite work out and transform a lovely lilac dress that I had previously attempted to refashion…badly.

Discover how to salvage a refashion gone wrong and whip up an easy DIY top for Easter + my no sew method for shortening a dress too!

About a year after I shot that video I decided to go ahead and shorten the dress. Unfortunately the result was not at all what I had envisioned so it sat in my stash until I decided I needed a new purple shirt for Easter:

Yup, just as I remembered: a wonky refashionista hem and those annoying fake pockets.

I placed the dress on a flat surface and chopped straight through, just above the faux pockets.

My dress is made of non-fraying jersey fabric so I could have left it as is but as I have a quirky collection of vintage trims and lace I thought I’d have a peek through it and see if I had anything to stitch over the raw edge. (grab my fave no sew fabrics here)

Purple Perfection!

I carefully stitched the trim as close to the edge as possible and my awesome new to me top was done!

Absolutely fantastic with my purple crocheted earrings, lilac lipstick, lavender accessories and brilliant yellow jeans!

How are YOU celebrating this Easter?

I’ve been an Athiest for as long as I can remember so Easter in our house is all about bunnies, baskets and egg hunts. Although there were attempts made to raise me as a christian, as a wee lassie I chose to put my confidence in reason, logic and scientifically provable facts. As an adult I’ve lived and worked throughout N. America, Europe and Asia which has given me the unique perspective of experiencing and adapting to a variety of cultures, speaking new languages and learning about just a few of of the thousands of the incredibly diverse gods, goddesses and religions followed throughout the world. With so many different faiths on the planet everyone is an athiest to some extent, I simply believe in no god(s) at all instead of one or several.
