No-slip shoes + a utensil mend with Sugru

I was recently featured as a sustainability expert by Sugru and provided them with a few refashionista tips to share with their audience. As a thank-you they sent me a pack of their fabulous moldable glue to try out. In all honesty I was more than a bit skeptical that this product could really fix, upcycle and improve the variety of items shown on the site but as I had a couple of things that needed mending I went ahead and gave it go:

Check out the results of my attempt to create no-slip shoes + a utensil mend with Sugru and see if this product really works below:

This thrifted pair of silver boots were awesome but incredibly slippery so I thought I’d see if Sugru could make them anti-slip and safe to walk in.

I wasn’t sure if stripes or full coverage would work better so I went ahead and tried both.

The full coverage definitely wins as the stripes had nearly worn off after only a few wears – I had more Sugru so I simply spread a fresh coat on the bottom of the shoe.

Even more impressive than the no-slip shoes was how it completely mended the handle of my favourite strainer – the side with Sugru is loads sturdier than the one without so I think I’ll add some to the other side too as a preventative measure!

And a few more fab fixes with Sugru:

3 broken items that most people would throw away are easily mended in a mere 24 hours:

Hooray! Totally functional once again! Not the prettiest results but I’m sure my Sugru skills will get better with practice!

I’ve been curious about that stuff myself. How does it stand up to water? Will you be trying it on other things? Keep us posted!

    1. I actually put the strainer through the dishwasher and it didn’t affect the sugru at all! Yay! 😀 I’ll absolutely be sharing any other future fixes I use it for too!

I accidentally shut my insulated coffee mug in the car door cane cracked the bottom outside edge. I used that stuff over the crack and filled the hole. Then I painted it with similar color nail polish. 3+ years later and going strong! It wasn’t cracked through to the inside, so no worries.

        1. I’m pretty impressed with sugru too! ♥
