As I’ve been without a romantic significant other for more years than I care to admit Valentine’s has transformed into a day to celebrate the bond my munchkin and I share.
We are absolutely 2 peas in a pod who face each challenge life throws at us together.
But enough sappy sentiment about us, you’re here for another free tutorial so let’s get making my easy personalized Valentine DIY – it’s a fab last minute gift from the heart that can be upcycled in minutes!
Grab an embroidery hoop (get them at charity shops for pennies!) and an embroidered doily, hanky or fabric scrap from your stash (mine is a leftover bit from this groovy tablecloth top) + an embroidery needle & thread if you’d like to personalize the thrifty gifty!
Paint your embroidery hoop if desired.
Pop the hoop around that gorgeously embroidered fabric.
Grab your trusty glue gun & stick the fabric to the back of the hoop then trim off the excess.
And your lovely little gift could be complete and ready for wrapping OR you could make it extra special and add some personalized embroidery:
Basic embroidery is super simple: just lightly sketch out your design on the fabric with chalk,
then embroider over your chalk lines using the very easy split stitch.
That’s it! Wrap up your handmade gift from the heart and present it to your Valentine!
This adorable embroidered art looks fab when hung up and makes a groovy addition to a collage wall too!
