My munchkin recently turned 6 (where does the time go???) and requested a Troll-themed extravaganza so I put on my refashionista thinking cap and got work brainstorming just how to create party favours, games, decor and treats from upcycled materials and bits I already had in my stash!
First up: Easy DIY Upcycled Troll Party Hats
Raid your recycling bin and whip up some quirky headgear for your next soiree!
Grab a few flyers (or newspapers), colourful paper, a glue stick, stapler and tape.
Lay 2 – 3 pages of the flyer on a flat surface. (make sure it’s long enough to wrap comfortably around the wearer’s head)
Fold it up into a wide headband.
Grab the colourful paper (I used 3 layers of tissue paper) and wrap one end around the headband to cover it completely. (you may have to pleat the centre of the paper a bit to make the ends line up evenly)
Carefully bend the ends of the headband around together and secure to form the hat.
Snag a bit of yarn and tie it around the middle of the hat.
Chop out some slices from the top of the hat to create the illusion of Troll-esque hair.
Pop it on and go make some more!
Experiment with colours, shapes and heights to create a variety of styles!
