Having a munchkin of my own and a neighbourhood full of young kiddos means coming up with Halloween decor that is more creepy-cute than horror-scary, is a task that has turned out to be much easier said than done, akk!
Thankfully my refashionista brain remembered an oldie but goodie ghost creating method from my childhood:
Raid your kitchen drawers and whip up my cute and quirky and oh-so easy upcycled DIY packing tape ghost!
Grab a roll or 2 of packing tape, plastic wrap and a large-ish sized doll.
Completely wrap the doll in plastic wrap (and feel incredibly bad doing it).
Wrap the plastic covered doll in 5 or more layers of packing tape (and feel even worse doing it).
Once you’re happy with the thickness of the tape carefully chop up the back of the plastic/tape wrappings, gently pull off the ghostly cocoon and free your grateful dolly.
Tape up the back and any other open areas.
Et voila! A fantastic (yet delicate) ghostly figure is born!
Display your Halloween spirit peeking out from some foliage
or eerily floating in the window:

While we don’t celebrate Halloween where I live, this is a really clever idea, I wonder if you could do something similar for Christmas decorations or custom shaped fairy lights or something. It’s certainly got me thinking…
Packing tape can be moulded into almost any shape, it all depends on what you’re wrapping it around 😉 Great idea for fairy lights!
