Blogging and social media go hand in hand and compliment each other beautifully when done right but with all of the work involved in single-handedly creating and publishing a full-time blog it can be difficult to squeeze in the time needed to keep up to date on your social sites as well.
What’s a one-woman-show blogger to do?
Take a peek at my helpful hints for Blogging: Managing Social Media and juggle your online circus like a pro:
*As technology and social media are continually changing I’m sharing the general approach I take to posting and remaining up to date on my social media platforms.
A facebook page and group are a blogger’s best friend. This massive social media platform allows you to create your very own online community where you can share links to your posts, videos and articles as well as personally interact with your fans and followers. (I absolutely love seeing the projects and thrift scores you share with my page as well as all of the groovy comments and queries I receive!)
I share a minimum of 3+ posts per day on my page (+ a few more in my Gone Thrifting group) and use the handy schedule feature to have them published throughout the day to remain fresh in my subscriber’s feeds.
*If you’re sharing a groovy post by another blogger with a fab facebook page be sure to tag them by simply typing “@”+ their facebook page name and the system will automatically let them know which can lead to new likes for both of you and perhaps the start of a fantastic new friendship!
Instagram is brilliant for sharing photos of your works in progress, it only takes a few seconds to post an on-the-go tutorial pic while you’re actually creating and shooting the DIY + the photo can easily be shared with your other social media accounts with a simple tap of the screen! I also use it to promote my daily blog posts and encourage my followers to pop over to my Confessions of a Refashionista and try out the fab free tutes for themselves.
My go-to hashtags are: #refashion #slowfashion #upcycle #recycle #refashionista #conscious #sustainable #ecofashion #ethicalfashion #vintage #diyblogger # fblogger #tutorial #thrift #thriftythursday #wip
I am not at all an avid Pinterest user but as loads of my subscribers love this sharing platform I have created several boards to categorize and curate my daily CoaR and Refashion Nation posts as well as save the informative and quirky articles and tutorials I discover online that I’d like to share with my followers.
Twitter is most certainly another social media platform that I’m not at all continually active on as my old refashionista brain simply can’t keep up in 140 characters or less, instead I have set up my CoaR and Refashion Nation blog posts to be automatically shared on my Twitter profile when they are published as well as making sure to tap that little share with Twitter icon when I post each of my instagram photos.
I use my Tumblr in exactly the same way as Twitter with everything set up to post automatically as well as tapping that handy sharing icon when I publish a photo on instagram.
