Just to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that you don’t need a fancy schmancy expensive machine to create each and every one of my tutorials, I’d like to introduce you to the hardworking (and sometimes incredibly frustrating) retro beauty behind all of my sewing projects:
Only 29 years old and sews like dream (most of the time). I spied her in a charity shop window and brought her home for a mere €15!
Get the scoop behind my thrifted refashionista sewing machine below:
To keep this old gal in top working condition I give her a thorough clean and oil every 2 – 3 months + I’ve dressed her up with several good luck charms and make sure to give her plenty of lovely sweet-talk-while-sewing.
She came with all of her original schnickyschnacky plus a load of extra bits n’ bobs. I haven’t a clue what most of it is used for but it all fits nicely in the secret drawer at the back of the machine so maybe one day I’ll find the purpose for the metal jabbers, pokey doodads and that thingy that screws into the other thingy.
These are the only attachments I actually employ on a regular basis: the button-hole, rolled hem, zipper and straight feet.
Surely the easiest but honestly, what more does a refashionista need, amiright?
Awww! I love the colors! I had a random huge fox baby sticker on the side of my last machine and it made me love it more. I think I need to spruce up my current model! 🙂
Decorating your machine absolutely helps with creativity and getting through those frustrating glitchy moments too! 😀
I don’t know about everything, I think I have the screwything too, but I think the 2 3D L-bars are to be used as guides when quilting a, well, a quilt!
Aha! Cheers for the info ☺ Now to try to figure out the rest of them ?
