The Upcycled DIY Bathpuff Tote

Believe it or not I rarely know exactly how a project will turn out until it’s totally completed.

Everything I create begins with a little prodding at the back of my brain that soon transforms itself into a ginormous series of shoves until I’m able to grab the necessary gear and get makin’!

And so it was with that ruffled bit of upcycled awesomeness above.

Any idea what my shove-y brain insisted I use to create that fab little tote?

I grabbed a bathpuff that had outlived it’s usefulness, an old totebag from the craft-fail pile & the fabric marker from said tote-fail.

I drew a simple pattern on the tote in an attempt to conceal the previous, washed-out fail.

Then flipped the tote inside out & sketched out the basic shape I wanted for my bag.

Stitched around my guidelines & chopped off the excess fabric.

Then unravelled the bathpuff,

flipped the bag right side out & pinned one end of the unravelled bathpuff onto the bottom of the bag.

Stitched it around the bag, making sure to position each new layer of the bathpuff a bit higher than the last to cover the bag from top to bottom.

I secured the topmost layer to the edge of the bag with a wide zigzag stitch & my fancy little bag was complete!

A pretty fabulous bottle tote if I do say so myself!

I thought it was going to be made from a scarf! It was a bathpuff! That’s hilarious and genius at the same time! Love it!

I always end up using the old unravelled ones to try to keep birds off the plants, but this is much better.

I don’t do social networking at all, but yours is one of only three blogs I love to read. I especially look forward to yours because there is always something interesting and new. Your ideas and your energy are infectious. You’re very inspirational.
