A Dainty Thrifty Thursday

I’ve never been accused of being graceful or delicate and as a wee lass was apparently banished from toddler ballet for my bumblingly clumsy shenanigans…

but my brief brush with the ballet must have stuck with me throughout the years as my idea of a Delightfully Dainty look involves tulle, lace & little ribboned shoes.

    1. I adore your petticoat collection…and the adorable story behind your love for them! + the dancing is fab too 😉

      1. It’s lovely to get your reply. Thank you for your kind words. It is a special story. I don’t think I ever fully got over my childhood friend moving away, it was like a part of me was taken away. Whenever I see tulle it’s bitter sweet for me. But more sweet than bitter.

  1. Your outfit and hair are just too perfect for this week’s theme. This is one of my fave looks of yours. 🙂 That is a great quote by Amy P. I wish I could be more silly and care less about what others think!

    1. Thanks very much Erika…and no worries about caring so much what others think at this point in your life, the ability to just not give a sh*t & set your silly free is definitely something that comes with life experience & age 😉 (at least in my case)

  2. I love love love the skirt!!!! So funny I am also working on some curtains right now!!!!! Never tired of your funny pics ^_^

    1. Thrifted curtains are awesome for refashioning! So much funky, great quality fabric for pennies! 😉

  3. How is it that I only now noticed your tattoos? I love the one on your right arm! Is it a sewing machine? I can’t tell!

    1. yep…I have 4 tattoos – the 2 on my right arm are a sewing machine (on my forearm) & a bunch of sewing gear (on my upper arm). 😀

  4. That skirt is awesome! I definitely want to read that tutorial!

    1. Thanks Emily…it’s crazy simple! *tute will be up next week 🙂

  5. This is indeed the very definition of dainty!!! The shoes, the skirt…beautiful! And the Amy Poehler quote is perfect 🙂

    1. Yep, that quote is my absolute fave and is one of the main ingredients to a happy life: embracing the silly & losing the fear of embarrassment = the freedom to be who you are (with the added bonus of creating smiles & laughter for others 😉 )

  6. Brittany says:

OOH! I have some mad envy for that top. It is very floral and dainty. 🙂

    1. Cheers Brittany…it’s actually a completely transparent full lace camisole but it totally works as outerwear with a white tank under it 😉

  7. This is such an awesome outfit! I love that sheer skirt over the top. And those shoes are like the definition of dainty! Way to go 🙂

    1. Thanks Megan – the shoes are super comfy too but unfortunately white ballet-style slippers & munchkin chasing don’t mix so they don’t get out much 😉

  8. LOVE the poses, too funny! I love the tulle skirt, tulle is so big right now!!

    1. that tulle skirt began life as a curtain and was surprisingly simple to transform into a full floaty skirt! 😀

  9. Hahaha omg Sheri this is so adorable and so endearing! My mom’s nickname for me is “delicate flower,” and she’s being 100% sarcastic (I am about as undainty as they come)! I love the tulle skirt and I cannot wait for a tutorial! Plus those ballet flats really are pretty!! 🙂

    1. yep, I figured the only way I could achieve a wee bit o’ daintiness was to go all the way with girlie fabrics & erm…graceful poses 😉
