…slice out the doors & windows for your groovy apartment (*you could also leave this step for last & avoid the extreme annoyance of having to re-cut the openings for every bit of decorative paper pasted over ‘em…)

…decoupage the outside with some purty wrapping paper, paint the roof, fake-oupage the doors & add some upcycled doorknobs

…get comfy with your kiddo & flip through your mags & catalogues & chop out the decor for the adorable abode

…painstakingly stick it all together (an exasperating activity that’s made completely worthwhile when your little one bounces by, gives you a double thumbs-up & says “wow! wow! bootifu mommy!”)

…hunt about for some tiny plastic bits, grab some fabric scraps, nail polish to paint ‘em  & create the furnishings…

…stick ‘em down

…add some scrappy curtains

…nearly done…whew

…decorate the outside of your delightful domicile & give it the whole shebang a coat (or 2) of glue

Here’s a wee salute to the 70′s that’ll definitely put more power in yer flower(s)…

- pardon the horrendous word play & get makin’ -

Grab some faux blooms, a stretchy headband & yer glue gun (plain old regular glue will do too)

*create a cute n’ quick headband by simply gluing the ends of a length of lace around a folded xxl hair elastic

remove a few flowers from their stems & decide how to arrange ‘em on the headband

trim off any excess pokey plastic bits

& hot glue ‘em in place!

too easy!

and it can also be worn as a groovy necklace…

or transform a hat from hipster to hippie!

Got a lei layin’ around? Chop it up & glue a few blossoms to a kiddo headband…

Here’s how to (re)-create absolutely stunning vintage jewels with odds n’ ends you already have skulking about the house:

Grab one of Grandma’s rusty old brooches, a necklace in need of livening up, some funky nail polish & a lil’ something to stick it all together

…paint the brooch with the polish (effectively covering all of the rusted bits) & add some toothpick polka dots with a contrasting colour *top coat or varnish if desired

…once completely dry, remove the pin from the brooch & attach it to the necklace with glue, jump rings, random bits of wire…whatever you have on hand (I was actually able to secure the brooch above to the necklace by simply twisting the remains of the brooch clasp around the chain…easy!)

…salvage another brooch & repeat

beautiful!

Spruce up a pair of foot stools in minutes with my easy peasy how-to:

Start with some stools that have seen better days

…munchkin climbing really takes its toll!

Measure the top (length & width), all the way around the body & the height of the stool

…choose an awesome fabric & chop out a piece with the stool-top measurements & one with the body/height measurements (adding a centimeter or 2 for seam allowance)

…place the stool-top fabric at one end of the body piece, right sides facing & head over to your machine

…stitch together

…when you reach the first corner of the stool-top simply twist it around so the next side of the fabric matches up with the edge of the stool-body piece…et voila…perfect corners!

Once all of your sides are stitched together pop it onto the stool to check the fit, trim off any excess fabric & sew up the open edge

…hem the bottom & add a strip of elastic to keep it in place

and enjoy your fancy schmancy new foot stools!

Groovilicious with our fire engine red sofa, funky folksy end tables, doily-eyed owl pillow & upcycled art!

and I had enough fabric left to recover my sad little office chair…wheee!
