(this doesn’t work with every style of trousers or waistband so I also know my measurements & carry a tailor’s measure in my bag but it absolutely helps in a pinch when you can’t try on due to lack of change rooms, space or time)

Unfortunately , this method doesn’t work for everyone. I tried it with my jeans. The waistband extend at least 2 inches/a couple of cms beyond even the extended point of my fingertip. It’s a good idea, though. Maybe the “neck” idea will work for me ( using your neck to check the fit of the pants. I saw it demonstrated on 2 vids on youtube.)

    1. Yup, not every hack works for everybody 🙁 I tried the neck one with disastrously hilarious results 🙂 (prior to having success with the arm-measurement-technique I always carried around a tailor’s measure to check waistband sizes – I still do to measure the chest width & shoulder to hem length of blouses & tops 😉 )
