After too many years of disappointment with the effectiveness of store bought deodorants, not to mention the toxic ingredients that can be harmful to your health and stain your groovy garments, I decided to give making my own underarm freshener a try!
Grab the recipe for my Simply Natural DIY Deodorant + discover if it really works too!
You’ll need: 1/4 cup (4 tbsp) Baking Soda – as I have sensitive skin I used a bit less, 1/4 cup (4 tbsp) Coconut Oil, 1/4 cup (4 tbsp) Arrowroot Powder (cornstarch works too), an airtight container and your fave essential oil if desired.
Pop the baking soda, arrowroot powder and coconut oil into a bowl and mix until smooth.
Add a few drops of essential oil and stir together. I absolutely love the fresh, clean smell of lemongrass oil!
Pop the lovely mixture into an airtight container and enjoy your simply natural DIY deodorant!
(as coconut oil melts in warm temperatures and I prefer to apply it more as a cream than a liquid I’ll be keeping mine in the fridge until the weather cools off enough to move it to the bathroom)
And just how do you use it?
Scoop out a small amount and rub it into your armpit.
Let your skin absorb it for a minute.
Enjoy your naturally freshened underarms!
But does it really work?
I have been using my DIY deo for the past week and am thrilled to announce that not only does it work better than any of the store bought deodorants I’ve ever tried it’s also long lasting, not at all powdery, leaves absolutely no residue on my clothing and, thanks to the lemongrass oil, smells phenomenal!
(I’ve gotten loads of compliments and queries about my “perfume” and the reaction is hilariously awesome when I tell my scent admirers that it’s my DIY deodorant!)
