Stripes on #ThriftyThursday

Remember this dress from two years ago?

It’s now sat in my stash for nearly 6 years, made the move from Berlin to Toronto and I’m still not sure what to do with it. Take a peek at my world-travelling dress and see what refashion ideas you can come up with for my Stripes on #ThriftyThursday:

Dress (hand-me-down & refashioned) $0 – Turtleneck Sweater (thrifted) $2 – Leggings (had for years) $0 – Chelsea Boots (had for years) $0

Total cost: $2.00

That super stripey frock was a hand-me-down preggy maxidress that unfortunately could not successfully accommodate my expanded preggo boobs while I housed my munchkin and so sat hidden away in my stash until I rediscovered it nearly 4 years later! A quick sleeve removal & hemline shorten and the dress was ready for summer 2015!

I love the print but the fit is less than stellar. Thick elastic empire waistlines are not friendly to bountiful bosoms, humph! Unfortunately the bodice and skirt parts of the dress are separate pieces attached together around that annoying elastic so I can’t simply remove it to make the dress fit comfortably like I did here.

What would you do?

Cut the elastic section out of the stripy dress and use a plain black, white or green band to join them back together and improve the fit
