My easy refashioned overalls tutorial

Here’s another quick and simple method for transforming summer gear into a fall favourite!

Get the tute behind how I refashioned myself a comfy quirky pair of autumn overalls:

I grabbed a pair of shortie summer overalls and a pair of old jeans with the same leg width.

Unpicked the leg hems on the shorts.

Chopped the legs off of the jeans to my desired length then popped the jeans legs into the shorts with right sides facing and raw edges lined up.

Stitched them together and, as always, zigzagged over the outside seam for extra strength and to help prevent fraying.

I could have been done at this point but I decided to grab my DIY denim destroying tools and add some distressed areas to the legs so they matched the already-frayed-areas of the top.

Once my destruction was complete I gave my fancy new overalls a bath in navy blue dye

then popped them on with one of my fave refashioned tops from 2013 and my fab fall ensemble was complete!

Great idea! I would have never thought of doing this!

    1. Thanks Marie 😀 This lengthening technique works with literally any style of shorts or 3/4 trousers and is also fab for too short kiddo pants!

I love how these turned out, Sheri! Fabulous, indeed :). I might have done even three different color blocks on the legs, but finding suitable material for that might be somewhat difficult. And, really, they look great on you!

    1. Cheers Hanna! 😀 Our refashionista minds are once again in tune as I did attempt to find another pair of jeans that would have worked for a triple colour block leg but alas the ones in my stash just weren’t right for the job…
