Thrift Flip: Upcycled denim fringed painted shoes refashion

kikikumi refashioned shoes front 2

J’adore my new painted (faux) leather and denim fringed shoes!

Here’s what I did:

I started with a pair of inherited faux suede granny boots, old jeans and blue carpet paint.

I removed the laces from the shoes and taped off the bottoms.

Then painted all of the faux suede areas and set them aside to dry and set for 24 hours.

I grabbed the jeans and chopped off 2 equal pieces from the bottom of the legs.

Sliced each piece into fringes and then tossed them in with my next load of laundry.

How cool is that result? The denim fringe curled up during the wash cycle!

I wrapped the fringed denim pieces around the tops of my shoes to get the correct length,

then chopped and stitched them to size.

Punched a hole in each end…

and my funky removable fringe was complete!

I simply wrapped it around each shoe and fed the laces through the holes!

Super cool! What kind of paint is that? I have faux leather thigh high boots that my cat got a hold of :-O i wanted to die but i love my fur baby and forgave him, however, my shoes are still in serious need of some TLC and drastic repair

    1. It’s actually just some carpet paint I had and thought would work on faux suede 😉 You could try this too 😀 https://awesomesauceasshattery.com/2014/10/29/a-quick-faux-leather-fix/
