My upcycled paper plate buttons

I discovered a couple of polka dot paper plates hidden at the bottom of my kiddo’s crafty stash box and inspiration whacked me over the head, hard!

How adorable are those giant buttons?

Create the perfect sewing studio wall decor in minutes with my upcycled paper plate buttons:

DIY paper plate buttons

Grab a couple of paper plates, thick yarn, a chopstick (or pencil) + an embroidery needle (or whatever thick pokey instrument you have on hand)

Use the embroidery needle to poke 4 holes through a paper plate an even-ish distance apart.

Widen the holes using a chopstick or pencil.

(pre-poking the holes with the needle helps to safeguard against the paper plate ripping when the larger tool is poked through)

Sew the yarn through the holes just like you’re stitching on a button.

Tie the yarn in the back.

And go hang them up!
