It’s no secret that I think That Cheap Bitch has a fabulous attitude about personal style & fashion and when I saw her latest snazzy acquisitions I instantly began coveting them. Unfortunately the price tag and (potentially) unethical production practices of the brands behind the outfit meant the actual ensemble could not be mine:
Fortunately my eco-refashionista-self managed to not only replicate and upcycle those groovy flares and that french fry & ketchup patched shirt for a fraction of the price from second hand items but also recreate and personalize the look to my own style.
Raid your wardrobe, hit the charity shop and create your own monogrammed, funky french fry & ketchup patched boxy shirt and a pair of fab flares with my quick & easy tutes (+ free patch templates!)
Simply right-click the template above to either print it for immediate use or save it to your computer, easy!
Cut out your desired template patch size, snag some red & yellow scrap fabric or felt + your trusty scissors.
*felt is awesome as it doesn’t fray and washes & wears wonderfully!
Pin the ketchup bottle and fry box to the red felt and chop them out.
Slice some fries out of the yellow felt.
Embroider your initials onto the ketchup bottle & fry box using a simple split stitch.
Grab a loose fitting, boxy button up shirt with a chest pocket.
Chop the sleeves to your desired length + seam allowance.
Hem up the raw edges.
Arrange your patches with the bottom of the bottle and fry box just inside the pocket, pop the 2 “edge fries” into the box and pin them in place as a guide for stitching on the rest.
Sew on the fries.
Pin the bottle and box in place
and stitch them on.
Wicked!
Create a pair of fab flares with my bohemian bell bottoms tute!
Enjoy your new favourite shirt!
*Unfortunately my darling Cheap Bitch has decided to step away from blogging, fortunately it’s due to her awesome job as a freelance video director & journalist + a wish to live life to the fullest away from the computer screen (+ get a few more hours of sleep).
Emily’s dry wit and refreshingly honest voice in the crowded world of fashion blogging will be sorely missed but her stylish legacy will remain online at ThatCheapBitch.com.
Love ya Emmy!
*I promise a trip to NYC for a CoaR/TCB thrift-o-rama & gabfest is coming sooner than later!
