Each of my fabulous tattoos is very meaningful and as tattoos are like chips, you can never have just one, I’m always thinking about future designs to have inked into my skin.
What could be better than a patchwork mixture of my strong, expressive Scottish & Irish clan emblems?
I have a basic idea of what I’d like the design to look like but am unfortunately lacking the drawing skills to get it down on paper – which is where you come in my creative lovelies!
I’m positive that at least a few of my fellow thrifty diva refashionistas have the artistic ability & creativity to design my awesome new tattoo so I’m asking for your submissions – the creator of the chosen design will not only have their work forever inked on my skin (& therefore frequently showcased online) but will also receive some groovy me-made gear!
My ideal design will resemble patchwork and incorporate the above symbols, tartan & aran knit stitching.
Here’s the rundown of the meaning behind them all:
My Scottish Tartan.
“Invictus Maneo” = I Remain Unvanquished and is the motto of my powerful Scottish warrior clan and is pretty darn fitting if I do say so myself!
My Irish Coat of Arms depicts this mighty oak tree – the symbol of antiquity and strength.
My Irish Aran (knit stitch pattern) has an unusual trellis centre panel, flanked by cable, honeycomb rope, zig-zag and moss on either side. The trellis represents the stone-walled fields of the Aran Islands, cable represents good luck, honeycomb symbolises work, the zig zag stitch has come to represent the ups and downs of marriage and moss is symbolic of nature.
So my lovelies, what do you think? Are any of you up to the challenge of designing my tattoo?
E-mail your submissions to me to be for a chance to win fantastic Sheri-made gear created just for you + bragging rights to the inked design that will eventually be adorning my left arm!
