A Footwear Thrifty Thursday

As this week’s theme is All About Shoes I thought I’d take a quick tally of exactly how many pairs of funky thrifted footwear I actually possess.

I like shoes and although I’m always on the prowl for groovy footwear I never would have believed that I had such a vast & varied collection. I’ve a few more pairs than those pictured above and am more than a wee bit embarrassed to admit that apparently I’m an unintentional collector – I counted 38 pairs of shoes & boots – eek!

That is far too many to feature in a thrifty blog post so instead I shall share some of my fave footwear DIYs and tips:

Of course, a post about thrifted footwear wouldn’t be complete without some handy tips for neutralizing those unwanted aromas!

  1. Wow! That’s quite the collection. I love your chain shoes and the polka dot ones the most. Those are awesome and the towel bar storage solution is great!

    1. Thanks Vee! The towel bar is not only great easy-access storage but also looks pretty darn cool too! 😉

I didn’t think I was too fussed about shoes, but since I started thrifting and refashioning, I seem to have accidentally started a collection too. Once I got past all the blah that’s on sale in the ‘usual’ shops, I have found that I love shoes! My figure is a bit difficult to dress, so some fancy feet make me feel good!

    1. I have tiny little feet so finding “normal-sized” footwear in a regular shoe store is quite a challenge, unless I’m lucky enough to discover something in the kid’s section that isn’t covered with pink glitter or cartoon characters 😉 I’ve found that vintage footwear is sized smaller than its modern counterpart so when I spy a pair at the thrift shop that comfortably fit my tootsies I snap ’em up!

  3. I love shoes too but in Singapore’s hot and humid weather they need to be cared for properly, and you can only have a few pairs as the rest will go mouldy and melt, literally!!!

    1. ha,ha! Berlin is chilly and humid so mould is a gross problem here as well. My shoes are either stored hanging on the wall (as in the vid above) or neatly lined up on shelves and every pair has had the anti-mould treatment spray 😉
