Snag some rocks, a permanent marker, googly eyes & all-purpose glue.

Give the rocks a good scrubbing and spray with varnish if desired.

Glue the googly eyes onto the rocks.

Sketch on a mouth and some eyebrow or eyelash details and your adorable pet rocks are complete!

Print out the care instructions in your preferred language:

simply click the instructions to enlarge & either print immediately by clicking file then print on your browser toolbar or right-click the enlarged image to save it to your computer – easy!

Wrap a pet rock in a bit of tissue paper and fold the care instructions around it.

Have your munchkin decorate some toilet paper rolls, fold in one end, pop the pet rock & instructions inside and then fold in the open end – et voila! A fun little gift box that cost nada to create!

I used to make these as a child, although just with paint (I don’t think you could get googly eyes so easily back then!). I can’t believe I forgot about this. My kids will love this – thank you so much for the reminder! I foresee many pet rocks joining us over the Easter hols!

    1. You’re very welcome! I wanted to give the kiddo’s bday guests something creative & fun (instead of the usual ‘plastic toys & candy in a bag’ party favors) and the pet rocks not only fit the bill perfectly but were also free to make as I already had everything on hand. The kids absolutely LOVE their new pets 😀
