The quick collar refashion: a diy for guys

Whilst sifting through my stash I discovered a shirt without a collar and a collar without a shirt so I put them together & created a stylin’ new button down refashion for dudes:

Here’s how to create The quick collar refashion: a diy for guys

Snag a collarless shirt (or cut off the existing neckline) & chop the collar off of a similarly sized button down.

Pin together with right sides facing & raw edges lined up. (If the collar is shorter than the neckline simply fold/gather it a bit in the center of the back)

Stitch together.

Zigzag over the outside seam for extra strength & to prevent fraying.

Neat-o!

  1. All of your tutorials make me want to learn to sew.

    1. I’ve only been sewing for about 4 years & if I can teach myself the basics (on an ancient, ridiculously heavy & cumbersome inherited machine) than anyone can!

I’ve since upgraded my machine from that scary inherited metal behemoth from the 1960’s to a relatively lightweight thrifted beauty from the 1980’s 😉
