saved by a scarf: a quick blouse refashion

Yay! I scored a fabulous blouse for €1 that actually buttoned up nicely over my bountiful bosom.

Boo! It had those ridiculously annoying chest pockets that did nothing but stretch wonkily over said bust. Removing them resulted in this bit of foolishness:

holes – permanent seam ghosts – weird snap indentations – an unmendable mess?

Nope! A vintage scarf + a bit of refashionista magic = this piece of gloriousness:

Here’s how to fix your own in about 20 minutes:

Grab your victim.

& an awesome vintage scarf that will easily cover both sides of the front of your blouse. Chop it in half.

Pin to the blouse using the button placket, shoulder, neckline & side seams as a guide.

Trim off the excess scarf fabric.

Zip over to your machine & stitch together with a tight zigzag.

Over-stitch with a wider zigzag for extra strength & a bit of detail.

Love it!
